DYS & Reign Investments shine bright

It is no secret that mining is a significant contributor to the Namibian economy and DYS together with Reign Investments see economic and employment growth as a viable prospect with their joint partnership.
“The main idea behind this invitation is to expose the media to the various operations of DYS and its various processes that we engage in, said Frans Ndoroma one of the local directors and a member of Reign Investments.
Ndoroma further explained that the media was invited to help in raising awareness around DYS, especially for the youth given that Namibia is a diamond producing country and there are employment opportunities available in the industry.
The diamond cutting and polishing company was established as a response to a call by government directive that companies venture into value addition, employment creation and skills development. The factory was founded in 2005 and is deliberately located in Katutura to assist employees with transport costs to and from work. He said that the majority of the DYS personnel come from areas such as Khomasdal and parts of Katutura and that being closer to the employees help to reduce transport costs.
DYS in a joint partnership between three major international diamond companies such as Reign Investments which is 100% local company which in turn partnered with DYS in a polishing and manufacturing duo.
The factory employs 91 employees of which a number of them are under training and while others are shadowed and mentored by expats. Dr. Kuiri Tjipangandjara added that there is potential to double the workforce as the factory is able to hold 190 people. However this, he added, depends largely on the quality and quantity of the rough diamonds they receive.
The DYS and Reign Investment team see the new collaboration of great importance to the local economy, with regards to employment creation and procurement of services.
