The Windhoek Fashion Week has returned for the second time promising to be bigger and better this time around. Slated for the 1st – 4th November, this year’s Windhoek Fashion Week will be held at the Nampower Convention Centre in the heart of the Capital.
According to the director of the Windhoek Fashion Week, Luis Munana this year’s event will see a lot of new faces as models and designers. “We’ll have designers and models from around the country because we tried as much as possible to be diverse in our selection,” he said.
With multiple shows over the four day period, the festival grants fashion designers a platform to showcase their talent and share the same platform with international designers.
With a jam packed schedule, renowned Fashion Designer and Blogger Leah Misika will be opening the Windhoek Fashion Week with an offsite private show on the 1st of November.
On the second day, there will be Fashion Talks hosted by Industry Professionals with a focus on running a Sustainable Fashion Business. The highlight of the talks will be the German Fashion Council president, Scott Lipinski.
Apart from the established names in the industry, the Windhoek Fashion Week will also afford College of the Arts students an opportunity to showcase their final year collections.
On the third and fourth days local and international designers will be showcasing their collections. Day 3 starts with the first slot titled “A Style for Every Story” which will see the first half of prominent Fashion Designers.
This slot will showcase Namibian LAO Designs, House of St Luke from the Republic of South Africa, Fresh Official from Angola, Mozambican Nivaldo Thiery, and Namibian Quinn Hammond and TM Brand Clothing Line. Melisa Poulton will be wrapping up the day with her ‘Earth Fire’ collection.
In a surprise move, the Windhoek Fashion Week will be invading Wernhil Park with a Fashion Flash Mob Activation to give the shoppers an experience they will never forget. On the last night of Fashion Week, revellers will witness the remainder of the designers showcase their garments.
The following designers will showcase on the last evening namely FoxyGinnah(Nam), Sdu Shezi (RSA), Sai Style (Nam), ELGVNCIE (Ang), L’Aesthetic (Nam) and will see Ingo Shanyenge closing off the “Power in My Style show”.
“This year ‘The Intern’ by David Tlale will be back which will see our very own Deon Angelo coming back home and show case his talent with other interns who are part of the program. This program was launched last year for the first time in Namibia by International Designer David Tlale,” said Luis.
Some of the other brands that will be involved as well are accessory brands like Inami.
This year we see Windhoek Fashion Week bringing the biggest fashion platform in the country. The excitement is massive as everyone awaits this event.
