If there’s one thing that we are blessed with yet put to waste, it’s time. Time is life’s most precious commodity and once it slips out of our hands it never returns yet, we waste it on unnecessary things.
I find it mostly sad when we waste our gift of the day judging and comparing ourselves to other people
Personally I didn’t struggle with jealousy, I struggled with being judgmental. I would question people’s choices until God taught me a very good lesson which made me realise how jealousy and being judgmental shows us what how ridiculous myopic beings we are.
Whenever a public figure makes a mistake, we focus on that one incident and completely forget all the good they have previously done. When did it become so sinful to make a mistake?
Whenever I think of jealousy I picture someone with an aggravated feeling of envy and a dangerous mix of resentment and bitterness that fuels rivalry between two people. But why do we get jealous? Let’s face it, most often we get jealous when someone else is doing better than we are.
It is mostly jealousy that leads us to being judgmental. Here’s my story i was once working on a project with a “friend”. I started working on my project earlier, I put in so much effort and I would go to bed late while working on it. As for my friend she started working on hers the night before the due date. When the results came out my friend scored distinction while I scored merit. How could she score higher than i who put in so much effort?
It’s sad and it’s mostly sad when you condemn others for their choices simply because they are not in tune with yours. It’s sad when you look at other people and think to yourself “thank God I am nothing like her. It’s sad when you set yourself on a high throne and look down on others.
Why do we waste precious time that we could spend on ourselves? Why do we waste time looking to see if the next person will trip and fall so that we can have some form of satisfaction in our hearts? Being jealous only shows that you are unhappy with yourself, unhappy with the way God created you, ungrateful for the blessings He has bestowed upon you, forgetting that God has put something special in you. Instead of being jealous, why not admire that person and ask God to show you your hidden talents and take joy in them?
Never consider yourself better than others. It’s funny to exalt yourself above everyone else and believe that you are better than the next person. In Matthew 23:12 the Bible says “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Hunnay, life will humble you before you even get to meet the Big Man upstairs.Don’t waste your time on jealousy but rather invest that time in making yourself much better than you are now!
Don’t spend your hours judging other people. Remove the log in your own eye before trying to remove the speck in the next person’s eye. “Don’t judge a man until you’ve walked a mile in his shoes.”
