Big Mich takes comedy on the road

Free Your Mind’s Last Comic Standing and the self-proclaimed ‘Nama with a Wambo Attitude’ is on a countrywide tour to make the creatives art of comedy popular and his name a household reference.

The ‘comedian by birth’ has been hard at work after stamping his name on the comedy floors last year to grow his art and his tours outside the borders of Windhoek is more than just about him.

“The tour is aimed at making Big Mich a household name and provide comedians outside Windhoek the platform to show their skills. There is so much talent outside but we barely see it because this funny guys do not have the platform,” said Big Mich.

On his ‘Son of a Mich Tour,’ the comedian has already introduced his birth gift to the towns of Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay and Okahandja. “It has been an overwhelming experience. We sold out at almost all the venue in the towns as people really came out to support.”

Apart from planning to go back to the coastal towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, Rundu will be his focus on 30 June, Oranjemund on 7 July and Ongwediva on 7 July before going down south and closing off his 11-town tour in Windhoek in late July.

“The challenges we faced so far were the venues because most of them were small and could not accommodate bigger crowds. Also, many comedians has stage fright so we still have a lot to do to bring out the talent. We want to make mature comedy and this is just the beginning,” said Big Mich.

Undoubtedly an ambitious escalation for a comic who began his career a little over a year ago in a show titled ‘Nama with a Wambo Attitude’ at the FNCC, Big Mich has kept his tempo becoming the architect behind Fresh FM’s ‘Kasi Chronicles’, venturing into television via ‘Watagwan’s  Social Circle.’ He says his next move is to have his own comedy show on the screens of your lounge.

When visiting the towns outside his comfort zones, Big Mich says his comedy is relatable thus he does not struggle to make people laugh.

“I am a comedian by birth so it is not difficult making people laugh. Before taking on the stage, I would hang out and chill with the people of town. I like seeing how people have fun, how they behave and how they party.”

Speaking of growing his comedy and being an influential figure, Big Mich says he is also working on his motivational school tour under the theme ‘self-cess.’

The tours are a lead up to his one-man show in September.
