If I could get a dollar for every time someone acts impolite towards me or towards someone else I could be rich by now. I see so much ill-treatment around, too many mean faces and impolite voices. All this makes me ask myself questions that nobody can answer.  Has being mean become some kind of trend or what now?

Because all I see is people being mean towards others. The truth is we all have problems but you wouldn’t want to lash out your stress on an innocent being. In fact you have no idea what that person is going through. You have no idea of the times they have cried themselves to sleep.

Let’s start off with our public servants. No offence but even the word itself says public servant meaning that you are there to serve the public but instead people leave your offices with broken hearts wishing they had never come in the first place.

All I’m asking you is to be polite with your clients. If the person doesn’t know, correct them without having to shout. If they ask, respond in a polite way. I understand that you guys serve hundreds of people but yet that doesn’t qualify you to be mean towards the next client.

Secondly, this is for anyone else including you and I. I understand that sometimes we act certain ways to show our friends how mean we can be but that should not be at the expense of someone else’s tears.

You can act mean without having to make another person feel less of a person. How cruel can you be to attain your laughter by making another person cry?

You might not see their tears but they might be crying deep within. Do we really have to make life this difficult for others?

I grew up with this advice from my bible advisor back then that I should never be the reason someone gets a heart ache and shed tears – for every tear that hits the ground will be at the expense of my blessings. So just so you know, next time you don’t get that job don’t blame it on witchcraft or whatsoever – you cursed yourself.

So now you see how expensive that is? Maybe I should notify you that kindness is one of the cheapest things in store for human kind. Really it only cost N$ 0-00 to being kind towards someone and you save the rest for your blessings and luck for the freebies.

It doesn’t cost a cent to be affable, give a glimpse of a smile and just utter a simple hello. It doesn’t take much to make or break someone’s day either.

Even the smallest acts of kindness can make an enormous impact on others. But if it is so easy to bring a smile to someone’s face why does it happen so infrequently?

I think that the world could be a much better place if we surround ourselves with kindness instead of negativity. This world is so full of negativity, evil and hatred.

Let’s make the world a better place for all of us by starting our own kindness revolution and begin bringing kindness to everyone we encounter. It doesn’t take much to help someone out and brighten up their day.

Be kind, let’s be kinds…
