Exactly 10 years ago, the first ever album by the collective of Clive and The NOW Generation was launched, creating echoes of praise throughout the Gospel elite of the country. This resulted in the continuous performance of this group over the last 10 years in venues all over the world.
Last Friday saw the launching of the second album – ‘Rise of a Generation’ at the NG Kerk Windhoek west/ Hochland Park. An event that saw the venue filled with worshipers even prior to its official starting time. From young to old, the idea behind the launch was attested to the vibrancy and liveliness of the attendants who were all warmed up despite the cold weather of the evening.
Clive and The NOW Generation is a come-together of some the countries best musical names who have for many years together composed various singles and two albums to their name. Having been invited to serve in many coastal located churches, the group made waves after it pulled crowds of hundreds to worship through music last year.
Production Manager and well as a Tenor vocalist on the group Nigel Bwanya says “We have been invited to not only launch this CD and DVD here in Windhoek, but also all throughout Namibia in various host Churches that partner with us in expanding the Kingdom.” He noted with gratitude the support that various pastors, ministries and individuals had put in to further the mission of the group. Bwanya stated that the team was very well received and their music had become a part of several denominations in their worship and praise. “It’s a different kind of growth that we are experiencing. Its only when you visit one church or the other that you realize what impact the music the Lord inspired us to do has had on a people – it is definitely in season.” In reference to the timeliness of the launch and why they chose to launch 10 years after, the Production Manager stated that theirs was “not the commissioning of men but the work of God.”
Willemse the groups’ leader emphasized the need for music to remain a relevant tool in reaching out to the many people that may not yet have heard the gospel. He said “while we are raising a generation around us – we are conscious of the inspiration that those who are younger receive to further press on harder.” Willemse spoke in testimony to prior events where the team ended up doing more charity work than stage performance because of the nature of their calling. He acclaimed the Launch as “the evidence of Gods work.”
The Now Generation team consists of Soprano Vocalists Reeva van Wyk and Nyasha Bwanya, while Mariza Falla and Naphtali Chipasha sing Alto. The Tenors are Ralph Job, Nigel Bwanya and Clive Willemse. On the band there is Bassist – Constantino “Zito” Salohoma, Marc D Du Plessis on the Drums with Zinzan Isaaks and Thomas Avo’ Josef on the Keys and Lead guitarist, Immanuel “Imms” Salohoma who is also the Musical Director.
This being the beginning of another round of extravagant tours, the team will host following shows countrywide before going after their large following outside of Namibia and even across the Africa including in Britain and Thailand. Ministry leader Clive Willemse said “Our commitment is to see the transforming of Nations to kingdom peoples… where best to start than right here, at home!”
The Team continues on its ‘Nation of Worship Tour’ throughout the country with the support of various local artists including the phenomenal Pride and the lady Maranatha. Clive expressed his gratitude to all partners’ friends and family who supported and continue to support the Ministry of Clive and The Now Generation; He urged to keep up the good work and to witness the rise of a generation.
