Can you believe it? The first half of 2016 is already behind us. Those six months are now water under the bridge. For people like me, it has been a drag whereas for some it happened in a blink of an eye, forty five minutes of the game gone and not yet sure if they are in for victory.Usually before we bid farewell to a year we make a list of resolutions for the coming year. It usually happens during the season of ‘New Year, New Me’ when Social Medias are flooded with next year I am going to do this, I will be like that the list goes on.
Now my concern is how many of those resolutions ever get beyond January? How many even get off the starting block? Or is it perhaps just a cheap talk business? July is a good time to take some stock as to whether the first half meant a good start to the year, or is it one that you would rather forget? Can you say that you have accomplished something this far? Have you made a significant difference in your life so far? Have you started working on that resolution that you made earlier this year? Did you do something? I mean anything that at the end of the year you’d be able to proudly say “I finally did it”? Could you meet the test of a true ‘wow’?
What would be different six days, six months, and six years from now if each day you were at your best? It is sometimes good to be challenged with the above questions even if it means to be somewhat intimidated by the answers we get. After all, resolutions are meant to help us be better than who we were before. As for me, the first half was good as it gets. Better than 2015 and not even to mention 2014. I’m not really the type that make resolutions year in year out but looking at my five year plan I have ticked off so much with very little to attain before we hit September as I wave good bye to my teen years. It is safe to say that I am where I set to be academically and have avoided all that I needed to avoid, just a sip of my goals.
Just how Thomas Edison have said, “If we did things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.” Have you ever wondered how it is that some people seem to accomplish so much while the vast majority of people never accomplish what they are capable of or what they literally set to achieve? It’s truly not rocket science all it takes is a fixed eye on your list of resolutions and try as much to attain all that. But there’s no silver platter Boo just fall and pick yourself up.
The easy way is to be effective enough and do the Right Things for the Right Reasons. Be efficient enough by doing things the Right Way, at the Right Time. As the first half of 2016 comes to an end and we contemplate what lies ahead for us all in the second half, I challenge you to think about this, what you have done so far. And more to the point, what exactly you are going to do in the next half to win the game.Until then, bring it on lets fight to the finish…
