Kauai oasis of Healthy eating

kuaii

Without doubt fast food restaurants never really have the healthiest options but, even if they did – is it attractive enough for me to want to buy it? Kauai Namibia serves to shame the stereotypical arguments that come with having a busy life and eating healthy.Kauai Namibia promotes and uses 100% organic ingredients freshly prepared and deliciously served within 10 minutes. Meals can be taken on the go or simply had at the restaurant. As we sat with the owner, Estelle Tjipuka, she highlights one of the biggest reasons why she took the route of ‘Healthy Franchise’ after being in the corporate world for 19 years. She says she experienced health challenges that left her with a desire to rather be a mother and a wife, and still be flexible enough to have a career that allowed her to contribute to her corporate social responsibility. There are two specific meals that Tjipuka enjoys from Kauai and says she would have them every day if she could – “The Avo toast siracha and the lemon squeeze and hemp cheese. The Avo Toast Siracha is a combination of fresh avocados, cream cheese, cucumber and a hint of siracha. These two are definitely my favourite meals from Kauai.”

All franchises are different as they serve different products and services to different crowds, but with Kauai Namibia the evidence of strictly healthy intake speaks much volume as opposed to what we are used to. A favourite element that comes with having food from Kauai is that they never deep fry the food. They incooperate the exquisite, all natural from blended fruits and green salads, carrots, boiled eggs, cheese, avocados fresh tomatoes and the all-time favourite olives and a touch of chicken and sea food like fish. The Lounge got to enjoy one of Kauai’s signature dishes which is a Grass Roots wrap with kale, roast beetroot, roast butternut, radishes and goat’s cheese – a classic Princess Wrap with free-range chicken and mayo made with free-range eggs. The dish is concluded with a flu-busting Cayenne Cleanse smoothie with pineapple, lemon ginger, honey, cayenne pepper and apple cider vinegar. Well-known for their wide selection of salads, wraps, sandwiches and smoothies, Kauai serves to impress.

Kauai is located in Maerua Mall, ground floor next to Virgin Active and in Kleine Kuppe. It opens Mondays to Fridays, 08h00 to 19h00 and on weekends 09h00 to 15h00. Next time you find yourself hungry and without time or willpower to cook a healthy meal, Kauai should surely be your next stop.
